Halloween in July

Halloween in July

I’ve gone back to quilting since my elbow doesn’t seem to want me doing anymore diamond dotz for a while. ‘Tis a dangerous time of year for me to be at the quilting shops, all the Halloween and Christmas fabrics are coming out! It may seem early, but you need time to sew this stuff, get it machine quilted and back in time for the holidays. The one shop I use is frequently several weeks behind in their machine quilting.

Anyway, I finally finished up a couple of items I had from last year:

I don’t care if it is July, I finally got this one done and put it on my table now. 😄

The other one is small, I really like the fabric on the back of this one:

I’m not actually sure where I’ll put this one since it’s so much smaller than my regular quilts. I’ve done a couple other quilts, but don’t have them back from the machine quilter yet, so no pics for those yet.

I’ve also been doing some more of the “nano” legos:

That’s “No-Face” from Spirited Away, one of my favorite movies from Studio Ghibli. Here are all the characters I’ve done from movies from that studio:

Really fun, but hard on the fingers with those tiny little blocks that need to get mashed together!

I also have several kits from the “Secret Life of Pets” movies. I just finished the bunny on the right. 😀

Aside from crafts, I’ve started going to a board game meetup in Sandy on Sundays. It runs 12-4 and gets me out of the house for a bit. Found the group on meetup.com, they have lots of times and locations all over for people to get together to play board games: https://www.meetup.com/board-games-slc/. The only other meetup group I really participate in is the Sci-Fi book club: https://www.meetup.com/salt-lake-fantasy-book-club/

I get along well with the folks in these groups. Yesterday we all talked about how hard it is to get out of the house and to one of these meetings. We all had stories of sitting in the parking lot, changing our minds, and heading home. Definitely some like-minded people! 😆

Been a rather rough time for the pups lately. Jax had to have several teeth pulled and Nyx had to have some lumps removed and biopsied. At least in her case they were non-cancerous, so that’s good news!

July 25th and hopefully the fireworks are finally over! This neighborhood throws a huge block party for the 24th and there’s no getting away from the ruckus for the pups. At least they’re pretty good about sticking to the designated days that fireworks are legal here. With the drought I’m surprised they still allow them, everything is so dry.

On the fun side of things, the trailer for the new D&D movie coming out next year looks like a blast:

For those of us that have been playing D&D, that thing is full of cool references to the game. All in all, I think this is the 15th year I’ve been playing. I’m not the DM at the moment, I actually get to just be a player for now! I am already planning the next campaign though. 😉

  1. So very glad to see you get back into quilting, and Legos, and your dogs. Got to keep busy to keep the loneliness away, and you do it very good. Stay the same way, little love bug.

  2. Love that 2nd quilt! Poor Jax! Hehe I’ve looked at that board game group as well, but never enough time in the day.
