Hello Sunshine!!

Hello Sunshine!!

We got hit with another big storm this last Monday. I ended up with about another 6 inches of snow that I had to go clear off my walks. It was a really wet, heavy snow too. Ugh. 😒 However the sun is out and we’re supposed to get up to 70 degrees by this Monday! YES!!! We’ve been trying to get the xeriscaping project finished and all this snow and rain keeps delaying everything. I think we’re close though!

March was a big movie month for me! On the 3rd I went to the “not-really-a-movie” DemonSlayer movie. It’s an anime series that’s been around for a little bit, but they literally just showed the last 2 episodes from the previous season and the first episode of the upcoming season. WITH ENDING CREDITS FOR EACH AND A RECAP!!! I knew the movie was going to be those 3 episodes, but I expected them to AT LEAST cut it into a movie-like format. ONE set of opening and ending credits. NO RECAP in the middle. Sheesh. I like to support that kind of stuff when it makes the rounds, but come on guys.

I took the 24th off to see John Wick 4. 2 thumbs up! It’s long, almost 3 hours, and there’s a very short scene at the very end of the credits.

Last week the D&D crew went to the Dungeons and Dragons movie. It started off a bit slow, but was a fun night out. I think it’s a fun movie even if you don’t know the game, but you may wonder at some of the weird stuff on the screen at times. 😄

I’ve decided I’m done with Diamond Dotz for a bit. I had been working on the Doctor Who one, but suddenly just lost all interest. I’ve been wanting to do some cross-stitching for a while now and a couple of years ago I bought all the supplies for one of my favorites:

This will be my third time doing this particular pattern. The first 2 were done as gifts, this one will be mine. It’s a big pattern and after framing it’s probably 2 feet x 2 feet. It’s hard to tell from the pic, but it calls for metallic thread and bead work. This’ll take a good year to complete. Hence one of the reasons I’ve really been enjoying Diamond Dotz! I could finish something like this in like 3-4 months!

I’ve also been getting a bit of an itch to quilt again. I’ve got several kits I’ve picked up waiting to be done. I had picked one out that’s a really cool giant star design, but reading the instructions kind of hurt my brain. I haven’t quilted in a while and that thing is more effort than I’m up for at the moment. I did receive a gorgeous, and much easier kit at the end of last year that I might tackle instead. 🙂

Getting back into the book clubs. A new one just started in Draper last weekend. I didn’t make it to their meeting last Saturday, but so far it looks like it may be a non-fiction club based on their first book choice. I’m really not very interested in non-fiction books.

My sci-fi book club has some interesting items coming up:

  • “Sea of Tranquility” by Emily St. John Mandel (4/21)
  • “The End of Eternity” by Isaac Asimov (5/12)
  • “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig (6/2)

The new murder mystery club I joined has been fun. We meet once a month on Zoom to talk about the book, and then play some kind of game that they relate to the book. Last time it was BINGO with the squares being answers to questions about the book. They have the authors on the meetings a lot of the time so you can ask questions and talk about their process and such. Lots of fun: https://acozydeath.com/. It’s all about “cozy murder mysteries”, meaning the death happens “off-camera” so to speak. The focus is on how to solve the mystery, not a grisly murder scene. There also tends to be a slight romance going on in there somewhere as well.

Pups are just as fat and sassy as ever. Flying colors from their yearly exam yesterday and all caught up on their shots. I’ve posted this before, but here’s what happens when I try to make the bed after doing the laundry 😄:

That’s it for me! Looking forward to some sun! Hope all is well with everyone!

  1. Whew! Got to get a life! How can you fit so much into the time frame of simply living from day to day! Quilting again. Then there’s the diamond dotz, the stitching, the dogs…
So many things going at once. Gives me a headache, and that’s from simply readying about it. Good thing you’ve got a great constitution.
And we love you for it.
    Tah Tah.

  2. I feel you on doing the cross stitch over the diamond dots, I’ve been on that track for quite a bit as well for some reason. I listened to The Midnight Library awhile back, it was interesting although the main character was a real downer, lol. Good luck on the projects!
