Xeriscaping Done!
This last week we finally finished the landscaping project! It took longer than expected thanks to all the weird weather lately. I ended up scaling it back from the original plan, so there’s a bit more grass up front than originally planned, but it’s finished!! All together about 4,200 square feet of lawn has been removed!

I can’t wait for all the plants to start blooming. That second picture looks pretty bleak, but there are plants in there too!

Yesterday I happened to drive by a parking lot full of outdoor garden statues. I swung by and picked up a couple little ones this morning. Can you spot the rabbits in this pic? 😄

They might be too hard to see. I want to get a couple more, just need to find what I’m looking for. 🙂
Here’s the patio they put in on this side of the house:

I wanted something big enough to hold a table and a couple of chairs, or maybe a bench swing or something. Just a little place I can hang out with the pups sometimes and chat with any neighbors that wander by. I’ve got a bunch of those stand-alone dog fences that I can set up and keep them in the yard with me.
On the other side of that gate is a path I had them put in and remove the grass from this weird, squiggly bit of yard:

Here’s the backyard from my back door. I just kind of rounded it out and got rid of weird areas at either end:

That side of the fence by the RV pad has a bit of slope to it and has always been a problem to keep watered. I replaced it with river rock that won’t be hard on the pups’ feet:

So glad to have it done! A LOT of grass was removed and all the new plants are drought-resistant, more localized type plants. Don’t get me wrong, if we were in the right area I’d be all over doing a kind of Japanese Zen Garden thing with ponds and bridges and cherry blossoms and whatnot. But we can’t have that here. 😒
Can’t wait for everything to start blooming! I’ll post some updated pics once they start coming in!

Looks great. We’ll take a closer look-see when we come to celebrate your birthday!
