I Haz Tennis Elbow?!

Ah, the joys of growing older and experiencing ailments you’ve heard about all your life first hand. 😒 My elbow has been bugging me for about 7 weeks now. I thought I had just pulled something and had been taking it easy, until the trip. Not a lot you can do about it when you’re hauling luggage around. Had my chiropractor take a look when I got back and he diagnosed it. Unfortunately, I guess this injury is particularly slow to heal since your elbow doesn’t have a strong blood flow.

So, what does that mean for me now? Well, I wear a compression sleeve a lot of the time now to help increase the blood flow in that area. Also a wrist strap to enforce minimal usage on that side. I’ve switched my mouse to my left hand, which has been SUPER weird to try to get used to! But it’s a change I’m going to make permanent. Last, no more diamond dotz for me for a while. That’s a super repetitive motion, plus the gripping of the pen and pressure to apply the dotz to the glue.

In other words, back to quilting! I have many kits, patterns, and fabrics to play with! This one is a table runner kit I bought that actually had the fabric already cut out for you:

It came out pretty good! I think the next pattern I’m going to tackle has applique pieces, which is going to be new for me. Those are odd shapes that are not part of the main, assembled quilt top. They are actually sewn on afterwards, on TOP of the assembled piece. It’s going to be interesting, I have some YouTube watching to do. 😆

Back to the normal grind these days. The pups have their first dental cleaning coming up. They’ve done really well! Nyx is 4 and Jax and is 3 and this will be the first time their teeth have required a full cleaning. Always sucks since they have to put them out for it, but they’re both going to be done on the same day which is nice. That way you don’t have one of them wanting to play while the other isn’t in the mood and just wants to sleep it all off.

Here’s a kind of weird thing. I’m a fan of Mango and Sticky Rice dessert from Thai restaurants. It was quite the thing over in Thailand, I could get it about anywhere along with Thai Ice Tea (the only kind of tea I’ll drink). But here it is, being sold in the airport just on a shelf, not refrigerated or anything:

I saw a lot of people buy them, but couldn’t quite do it myself. 😆

Hope all is well with everyone! Have a happy 4th of July!

  1. I wore a brace on my elbow for the longest time — including during my bowling for the first 3 years. Finally got past it last year and now can bowl without it. It does take time… a lot of time. Hope you find enough to keep you occupied for the duration.
