Mouse-capades and Hobby Fail
A few days back a little furry intruder was brazen enough to run right through my living room while I was working at 4 AM. The pups were asleep and saw nothing. I made a call to Orkin, but they’re pretty booked this time of year and couldn’t come out for 5 days. I grabbed some of those humane mouse traps and sure enough:

I’m not sure which one of us was more freaked out at this point. At one time I had scared the thing out into the open with a broom. The pups were too interested in attacking the broom, but Jax did see the mouse and wandered after it in a bored fashion. Schnauzer fail! I guess he thought it was just another toy?! Graphite proudly presented me with 2 different mouse corpses in her lifetime – she knew her breed’s job. 🙂
Anyway, there’s a massive area nearby being cleared for construction. It’s a good 2-3 city blocks in size and I let it out there. It’s pretty level with a few weeds, will probably end up dinner for a bird in the area. Orkin did a full inspection, but didn’t see any obvious area where it had come in and didn’t even spot any droppings. I’ve left the rest of my traps up and they’re still empty so I’m guessing this one was a scout?
I got a Notre Dame de Paris Church 3D puzzle for my birthday that I’ve been working on for a while. This one has me beat. I don’t know if it’s just that I’m a bit heavy-handed with things or what, but it’s not going well. Parts keep bending instead of “snapping” into place. Some of it is crooked and one point a bit of plastic painted to look like stained glass went flying and I’ve no idea where it came from. 😄 I’m probably going to write this one off as “lessons learned”, but now I wonder if I want to tackle a couple of items on my wish list or not. There are some really cool “book nook” wooden dioramas that you assemble and put in the middle of some books on your shelf for people to discover as they browse titles:

They have all kinds from Harry Potter to pirates, zen gardens, etc. Many of them have lights. Being that I think they’re primarily wood, I may be OK to give one of these a try.
I did manage to finish my last “Secret Life of Pets” kit:

This one was voiced by Harrison Ford in the last movie as the grizzled ol’ ranch dog.
I’ve got a little over 200 Blu-Ray movies ripped and on my Plex server, I haven’t even started the DVDs and still have half of one of my three 7 TB drives free for more. Weirdly, the ripping process has really given me a bout of tinnitus lately. I don’t know if it’s the pitch of the disc drive spinning the discs so fast to copy them, or the fan on the laptop going at full speed, or a combo of things. I’m not going to sit so close to it while it works anymore and see if that helps.
In closing, I’ve probably posted a pic on here while I’ve been sitting outside of Nyx looking through the dog door to see what was going on. Well, here’s the other side of that view: 😆

Take care!

Sorry about the Norte Dame project. Too many things had to match up to make it work. We’ll maybe try something different this next year. Glad your mouse problem is solved???
Ooh those dioramas are cool! You’ll have to let me know how tedious they are. And yay for no more mice!
