Spring Showers

Spring Showers

June has been an overall cooler month this year with quite a few showers. Not always enough to skip watering lawns, but has made for many nice days temperature wise. 😁

This is what happens when you have pups with white fur, a rain shower, and freshly mowed grass. They had just been groomed the day before too! 😅

A friend of mine invited me to see the new Indiana Jones movie this morning. Her work rented a theater for the showing, I guess they do this a couple of times a year. Pretty cool! I really hadn’t planned on seeing this one, #4 was such a bad movie but it was free and I got to see her for a couple of hours! Happy to report I was pleasantly surprised! It’s the longest Indy movie at 2 1/2 hours, but there’s no after credits scene. And yes, Harrison Ford has said this is the last one he’ll do. Lots of fun actors and cameos.

I see Dune Part 2 is scheduled for this November 3rd! I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t see the first one in the theater and really wish I had. It is such a visually stunning movie in just sheer size. I’m going to make a point to see this one the day it comes out on an IMAX screen! Christopher Walken has been cast as the Emperor Shaddam! Love it!

I’ve actually started reading the series all over again. It’s been added to considerably since the last time I read it. In chronological order:

  1. The Butlerian Jihad (2002)
  2. The Machine Crusade (2003)
  3. The Battle of Corrin (2004)
  4. Sisterhood of Dune (2011)
  5. Mentats of Dune (2014)
  6. Navigators of Dune (2016)
  7. House Atreides (1999)
  8. House Harkonnen (2000)
  9. House Corrino (2001)
  10. The Duke of Caladan (2020)
  11. The Lady of Caladan (2021)
  12. The Heir of Caladan (2022)
  13. Dune (1965)
  14. Paul of Dune (2008)
  15. Dune Messiah (1969)
  16. The Winds of Dune (2009)
  17. Children of Dune (1976)
  18. God Emperor of Dune (1981)
  19. Heretics of Dune (1984)
  20. Chapterhouse: Dune (1985)
  21. Hunters of Dune (2006)
  22. Sandworms of Dune (2007)

So I started with number 13 which is the first book published, not really realizing what’s happened to this thing as a whole. I enjoyed the additions of 14 and 16 which helped bridge the huge gaps in time between the original books. I had read books 1-3 when they came out and they cover the machine wars in the far past, but I truly hated how that trilogy ended. The villain you have been following and loathing over the course of 3 books suddenly becomes good and magically solves all the problems in the last few pages. So lame! I stopped reading Dune books after that ending in 2004 I was so mad. But since I enjoyed 14 and 16 in this re-read so far, so I’ll read the whole list except those first 3. I’m currently on #17.

I’ve been using the Libby app on my phone for library books lately and it’s been working great! Especially for books with my book clubs. I’ve only come across a couple of books so far that I enjoyed enough to continue the series after reading for a club meeting. Got to get in on the waitlist quick though for books that have been selected for a club meeting to beat out the other members!

In other news, my employer has recently become an official Adobe Partner: CF Webtools. This is a huge deal for us and pretty exciting. You can spot a pic of me in the “Our Team” section. In the video they show a map of where all their programmers are located and there’s only 3 or 4 of us in the West. I’m the only one in Utah! 😁

I think that’s about it! We’re hitting the finale in our current D&D campaign and I’ve been spending time trying to prep for the next campaign. This one has been such a wild and crazy ride! It’s going to be hard for the group to reset back to square 1 for a new campaign! We’re going old school this next time around, no computers/tablets at the game table. Just paper and pen and some stuff I’ve been cooking up/collecting over the last few months. 😉

Here’s a cute pic of Nyx in the “pup tent”. Every now and then one of them will get in there and just start rooting around, kicking up a storm and rolling all over the place inside these things. She somehow ended up like this while I was on the treadmill one morning! 😆❤️

It’s the big 4th of July holiday weekend, here’s to no sleep for the next little while! 😒 Stay safe and have a great weekend!

  1. Congrats on being the only one in Utah doing the programmer’s job. Don’t know where you find the time to read so many books, but I manage one a day during the month… just they are all mine or Nicole’s. Glad you’re enjoying the season and hope it extends to July… except for the days Nicole needs for Janessa’s water sports.
