Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

I think the kitchen is the worst room when it comes to moving. It’s the hardest to pack, to move, and to unpack. There’s just so much stuff, and a lot of it is fragile. There are definitely spots in my kitchen now that don’t make a lot of sense. I remember being tired and just done with the whole moving process and shoving stuff wherever just to get it out of the way.

March seems to be my spring fever month where I pick a room/spot and completely rearrange/clean it. Last March I tackled my under porch storage room, yesterday I did my kitchen pantry. Before:

Not horrible, but it’s been bugging me for a while. Here it is now:

It took ALL day to do! I couldn’t use my kitchen for all the stuff piled everywhere, and it took 3 different deliveries from Amazon yesterday, but it’s done! (1 order was done on Friday, but I literally made 2 different orders at 2 different times yesterday and got them both the same day!) So happy with the results, hopefully it’ll last for a while! 😅

A project I’m not too happy with is my latest Diamond Dotz canvas:

The eggs and the basket just look weird to me. I even double checked the colors provided against my back-up supply, and they were correct. I think it was maybe a bad mapping with their software or something. It’s done though and I’m kind of debating whether to frame it or not at this point. Here’s the picture it’s based on:

I’ve done enough of these canvases by now to know what to expect. In fact, this is my third “gnome” canvas, all the same size. The gnomes are fine, but the rest is just wrong. I mean, how is that a plaid background? What’s with the eggs in the basket?! Oh well, they were fun colors to work with. I’ve just started this one and it’s considerable bigger, let’s hope it turns out:

I’ve been a long-time fan of the “cozy mystery” genre of books. Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple fall into this category. This weekend I ran up against my first “cozy” high fantasy book: “Legends and Lattes”.

After a lifetime of bounties and bloodshed, Viv is hanging up her sword for the last time.

The battle-weary orc aims to start fresh, opening the first ever coffee shop in the city of Thune. But old and new rivals stand in the way of success — not to mention the fact that no one has the faintest idea what coffee actually is.

If Viv wants to put the blade behind her and make her plans a reality, she won’t be able to go it alone.

But the true rewards of the uncharted path are the travelers you meet along the way. And whether drawn together by ancient magic, flaky pastry, or a freshly brewed cup, they may become partners, family, and something deeper than she ever could have dreamed.

Audible kept recommending it to me, so I used Libby to get it from the library to try and really enjoyed it! I was surprised it was read by the author, but when I looked he’s narrated over 300 books on Audible. Don’t know if he’s a professional voice actor turned author or what, but it was all thoroughly enjoyable and I had a hard time putting it away. 😁

That’s it for now, time to relax. Hugs to everyone!

  1. I agree… those colors don’t jump off the page like your other diamond dots. Can’t imagine they would sell very well, it the picture matched the finished project. And your reader must be pretty good to have so many things written for him. I have a few of mine logged on (Books I wrote) but I’ve never heard any of them.
Glad you finished your kitchen project. Looks very neat and orderly.
