Just Stuff

Just Stuff

Another July and its annoying fireworks down. Things were much more lively in the neighborhood this year for the 24th over the 4th. Fireworks were going off Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday for the 24th. Not sure why it was so much worse this time around. 😒 I’ve been looking into some alternatives to Audible lately. There’s been an interesting tiff going on between author Brandon Sanderson and Amazon’s Audible division for audio books. He’s called them out on…

Spring Showers

Spring Showers

June has been an overall cooler month this year with quite a few showers. Not always enough to skip watering lawns, but has made for many nice days temperature wise. 😁 This is what happens when you have pups with white fur, a rain shower, and freshly mowed grass. They had just been groomed the day before too! 😅 A friend of mine invited me to see the new Indiana Jones movie this morning. Her work rented a theater for…

Spring!

Spring!

Finally done with the snow! Just a few rain storms here and there now. So glad to finally get to some temperatures where I can feel warm when I step outside! Of course that means everyone’s allergies are going nuts and the blistering heat is just around the corner, but I’ll take it over the constant cold! Took a day off for my birthday and booked a spa day at The Spa Lounge. I went with their relaxation package –…

Xeriscaping Done!

Xeriscaping Done!

This last week we finally finished the landscaping project! It took longer than expected thanks to all the weird weather lately. I ended up scaling it back from the original plan, so there’s a bit more grass up front than originally planned, but it’s finished!! All together about 4,200 square feet of lawn has been removed! I can’t wait for all the plants to start blooming. That second picture looks pretty bleak, but there are plants in there too! Yesterday…

Hello Sunshine!!

Hello Sunshine!!

We got hit with another big storm this last Monday. I ended up with about another 6 inches of snow that I had to go clear off my walks. It was a really wet, heavy snow too. Ugh. 😒 However the sun is out and we’re supposed to get up to 70 degrees by this Monday! YES!!! We’ve been trying to get the xeriscaping project finished and all this snow and rain keeps delaying everything. I think we’re close though!…

Spring Cleaning/Project Time

Spring Cleaning/Project Time

The snow is gone and the rain is here! Lots of rain lately, with a forecast of some rain every day this week. The company behind my xeriscaping project wants to start work again tomorrow, hopefully we’re not talking about a lot of rain this week! As I write this, the first mosquito-type bug has come in with the pups from the backyard. Definitely spring. 😒 This weekend was a food drive for the Utah Food Bank in our neighborhood…

Snowpocalypse

Snowpocalypse

Last Tuesday afternoon the snow had finally melted from all the shady bits in the yard that don’t see much sun. By 7 PM the next night I had over 20 inches on my front yard! There’s a sidewalk from the street to my front door with steps. Those lights are at the edge of each step but you can’t even tell they’re there! From one of my security cameras: At least it looks pretty! Here’s what it looked like…

Fun, Weird, and Silly

Fun, Weird, and Silly

This is a long, rambling post about taking joy in the little things in life. FoodI joined the Mayo Clinic Diet program on November 1st and have lost a total of 12 pounds since then! It’s been a really big change in my way of thinking, shopping, and preparing food. Some recipes are awesome, others definitely fall flat, but I’ve picked up some fun recipes! For example, a package of whole wheat English muffins, pepperoni, shredded cheese, and a jar…

3’s and the New Year

3’s and the New Year

If crap happens in 3’s I’ve completed 2 sets at this point. From almost the very first day of the new year and my garbage disposal going out, it’s been a kicker: Those are the highlights and I really don’t want to go too far into any of them. We’ve figured out that Jax not only has food sensitivities, he also has “smoldering pancreatitis”. Meaning he doesn’t actually have the pancreatitis disease itself, but his pancreas is always mildly inflamed,…

Baby Boy is 4!

Baby Boy is 4!

Jax is 4 today! Another rainy day, so didn’t take them for a walk, but he enjoyed his birthday dinner and is trying to get every last crumb off that plate. 😁 They’re both getting pretty hairy, they get groomed this weekend! This new year has been already been an expensive one. First the garbage disposal, now electrical. My treadmill has tripped the breaker a couple of times when I turned it on. Had a dedicated outlet to its own…
