Baby Girl is 5!

Baby Girl is 5!

Nyx turned 5 years old today! She is now officially “an adult”. 5 is the age when Mini Schnauzers start mellowing out a bit and I’ve noticed her tolerance for loud noise and lots of activity isn’t what it was. She won’t stay downstairs while we play D&D on game night and I’ve noticed her wanting to go home sooner when visiting others. She’s still plenty sassy and playful though!! This morning’s weigh-in shows I’ve lost 10 pounds on the…

New Year’s Eve and it’s been raining most of the day. Strange weather for January! I decided to get a jump on the whole “New Year Resolutions” thing back on November 1st. Step 1 was to start eating better, so I joined the Mayo Clinic Diet program. What I love about this program is it tells you exactly what groceries to buy for the week and what meal to prepare when. No more of the generic “eat less sugar and…

The Cold is Here :(

The Cold is Here :(

Lots going on lately, been a while since I posted an update! The first week in October I went to the Adobe ColdFusion Summit in Las Vegas. Years ago Adobe bought the ColdFusion server software I’ve been developing in for over 20 years now. First it was a company called “Allaire”, then “Macromedia”, now it’s Adobe. Those in the IT industry will tell you that “ColdFusion is dead”. Yeah, they’ve been saying that for years. From the conference, the number…

More Tech Stuff and Hobbies

More Tech Stuff and Hobbies

The movie conversion project continues, and I’ve finally landed on my final solutions. Years ago I purchased a lifetime subscription to Plex, so that’s my main streaming software on my media PC that Roku connects to. I’ve landed on using MakeMKV for ripping my discs to files on the media PC. Plex handles the .mkv files just fine and the quality is great! It’s VERY simple to use, and I like that I can use it for both DVDs and…

Mouse-capades and Hobby Fail

Mouse-capades and Hobby Fail

A few days back a little furry intruder was brazen enough to run right through my living room while I was working at 4 AM. The pups were asleep and saw nothing. I made a call to Orkin, but they’re pretty booked this time of year and couldn’t come out for 5 days. I grabbed some of those humane mouse traps and sure enough: I’m not sure which one of us was more freaked out at this point. At one…

Hobbies, Tech, Books and Games

Hobbies, Tech, Books and Games

I guess all those things can actually be considered hobbies… 😁 I’ve finished the quilts from the “Old Made” theme. The company who created it always has fun Halloween fabrics. This one was made to look like a rather creepy looking card game with a sewing theme. Here’s a tablerunner I did with some of the “cards”: This final quilt is going to the machine quilter tomorrow. It’s my first time doing applique on a quilt and so far, I’m…

Halloween in July

Halloween in July

I’ve gone back to quilting since my elbow doesn’t seem to want me doing anymore diamond dotz for a while. ‘Tis a dangerous time of year for me to be at the quilting shops, all the Halloween and Christmas fabrics are coming out! It may seem early, but you need time to sew this stuff, get it machine quilted and back in time for the holidays. The one shop I use is frequently several weeks behind in their machine quilting….

I Haz Tennis Elbow?!

I Haz Tennis Elbow?!

Ah, the joys of growing older and experiencing ailments you’ve heard about all your life first hand. 😒 My elbow has been bugging me for about 7 weeks now. I thought I had just pulled something and had been taking it easy, until the trip. Not a lot you can do about it when you’re hauling luggage around. Had my chiropractor take a look when I got back and he diagnosed it. Unfortunately, I guess this injury is particularly slow…

Thailand Vacation

Thailand Vacation

I’m struggling with how to write this posting. I have literally hundreds of pictures from the trip, and trying to document all the stories would create a small novella. I think I’m going to have to go with bullet points. The women’s retreat was to arrive on Sunday the 12th of June, spend Mon-Fri with morning meditation the excursions or personal time, a spa day was included, and then head home on Saturday the 18th. I worked with the travel…
